Mission Statement

We the members of Good Shepherd Parish family are the disciples of Jesus Christ. We stand for commitment, fellowship, and sharing of our faith. The purpose of our parish is to enrich our parishioners spiritually. We extend the hospitality of Jesus by reaching out and providing aid and hope to all people. We live our lives with the zeal of God’s teachings and, by our example, bring others to a closer relationship with God.

Prayer and Worship are the foundation of our faith life and must be continually nurtured and enhanced.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will gather on Sunday and Holy Days for worship.
• Will establish liturgy of the hours with Communion.
• Will sponsor events and devotions appropriate to the liturgical season.
• Will expand participation in Eucharistic Ministry, Lectoring, Hospitality, Music, and enhancement of Worship Space.
• Will provide appropriate music with selections reflective of the liturgy.
• Will sponsor missions and retreats open to all people.

Evangelization

All the baptized and confirmed in Christ have received the mission to tell the good news that God’s love is for everyone. The fulfillment of this mission demands ongoing preparation, education in faith for people of all ages, and a spirit of prayer that the message of Christ may be proclaimed by words and deeds.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will develop and employ a variety of activities to attract non-attending Catholics, attending Catholics, and non-affiliated persons.
• Will publicize church activities.
• Will provide visitor welcome cards.
• Will respond to visitor welcome cards.

The sacred dignity of the human person is the basis for the Church’s social teachings. Its social mission is characterized by a preferential love for the poor and vulnerable, thus ensuring the basic human necessities of life. Social action is an essential part of the proclamation of the Gospel. Faith must be lived out in action.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will tutor.
• Will mentor.
• Will participate and volunteer in service to the community giving special preference to the sick, the poor, the vulnerable, and the home bound.

We are called to union with God, not merely as individuals but as people of God. All who freely choose to participate belong to the community. Our continued growth depends upon our level of participation.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will provide opportunities for Church members to interact with each other.
• Will establish a communication network for emergencies.
• Will establish a welcoming committee.
• Will sponsor both a Women’s Club and a Men’s Club.
• Will initiate and support ecumenical activities and liturgies.

Stewardship

Stewardship is what we do after we say we believe. Through our gifts of time, talent, and treasure we p[lace our trust in God, who has never been outdone in generosity.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will poll parishioners to determine their expectations and needs.
• Will identify our talents and capabilities.
• Will carry out the activities in the Vision Statement.
• Will participate in both pastoral council and financial council.
• Will contribute financially to Good Shepherd, to the Diocesan Development Fund, and special collections.
• Will recognize and celebrate efforts to live out the vision statement.

Our purpose is to improve the grounds of the Good Shepherd Church campus in order to enhance and beautify its appearance.  Our responsibility is to maintain an excellent look in the eyes of all parishioners and the Pastoral Vicar.

Christian Formation

There is no set meeting schedule

Christian formation is a lifelong process. Our challenge is to foster and support Christian formation of all our members at every point in our lives. Our spiritual journey does not end until we rest in the presence of God.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community:

• Will conduct Bible studies, classes, and other faith growing opportunities that will enhance the meaning of the Readings and Gospels of the Lord.
• Will provide religious services and programs for Catholics and others who present themselves in correctional and health care institutions.
• Will provide and encourage opportunities for training in the various ministries.

Youth Ministry

There is no set meeting schedule

The continuation of our faith demands that we reach out to the youth of our community.

We, the members of the Good Shepherd Catholic Community will prayerfully identify who they are and their needs.
